Circular Economy Website · WordPress
Reutilizare.ro
Reutilizare.ro lets anyone in Bucharest and Ilfov donate household appliances, electronics and toys in four simple steps, without creating an account. Behind the public website sits a complete operational system: collectors pick up the donations, technicians assess every single item against a standard protocol, and an evaluation sheet is generated as a PDF automatically.

The challenge
What needed to change
This was never meant to be a brochure site. A device donated by someone in Bucharest or Ilfov had to be traceable step by step: who donated it, who picked it up, who checked it, what condition it was in and what value it produced — across four types of users, each with their own interface and permissions.
Donors have no account, yet the donation flow spans four server-rendered pages that must survive going back and forth, refreshes and closed tabs. The service only covers Bucharest and Ilfov, Google returns Romanian addresses with the wrong diacritics, and donors’ contact details are sensitive data that only the right partner may see.
Our approach
How we solved it
WordPress is used only as a foundation — authentication, database and admin. Everything users see and touch is code written for this project: a custom theme with 14 page templates and its own design system, with no premium theme, page builder or e-commerce, membership or PDF plugins bent into shape.
Data is modelled down to the physical item: “3 × LCD TV” becomes three stock items that can reach different technicians, in different conditions, with different values. Every request is checked by role and by who owns the object, and status changes trigger their side effects automatically, up to the PDF sheet generated on the server once an evaluation is approved.
A 4-step donation flow with no account, state kept in the browser and a single server-validated submission protected by reCAPTCHA v3
Geolocation that understands Romanian addresses: prioritised reverse geocoding, coverage-area check and ş/ţ → ș/ț normalisation
Item-level traceability, with cascading trash, restore and delete — no orphaned records
A digital 20-point technical evaluation protocol, with an official PDF sheet generated automatically
Four roles — donor, collector, technician and central — with object-level authorisation and versioned role migrations
Dedicated dashboards for collectors and technicians, with AJAX details, instant status updates and their own statistics
Separate onboarding for partner companies and technicians, with role-based redirect after login
An extended back office: sortable status columns, custom stock filters and login history
A mobile-first design system in SCSS (7-1), BEM components and a single SVG icon sprite
